What is it?
Pelvic Floor First is an initiative of the Continence Foundation of Australia that aims to prevent pelvic floor dysfunction in men and women through the promotion of safe and appropriate exercise programs. The site is primarily aimed at individuals engaging in physical activity who are at risk for developing pelvic floor problems, but there are also many resources available for health professionals.
Our thoughts:
This site is great to use for patient education and as a source for clinician resources. The material is nicely presented, easy to process, and appropriate for individuals in which pelvic floor muscle weakness is a primary finding or concern. However, it is important to note that the website generally focuses on strengthening the pelvic floor, which may not be appropriate for individuals with short, overactive, or painful pelvic floor muscles until preliminary treatment has addressed those issues.
