KOOS: Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score

What is it?

Widely used in research and clinical application, the KOOS is an outcome measure used to assess a patient’s opinion of their knee and knee related problems. The KOOS evaluates knee pain and other symptoms, function in daily living, function in sport and recreation and knee related quality of life. It can also be used with patients with a wide variety of knee injuries including ACL injury, meniscal injury, chondral injury and osteoarthritis.

Our Thoughts:

This outcome measure is an excellent resource when you’re interested in not only how someone’s knee pain is influencing their ADL’s but also their sport and recreation. It’s free to use, is available in many different languages and the KOOS-Child version allows it’s use in paediatric populations aged 9-12 years. Plus it only takes 10 minutes to complete!
