Fear Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire

What is it?

The Fear Avoidance Belief Questionnaire (FABQ) is a 16-item self-report questionnaire that focuses on how a patient’s fear-avoidance beliefs about physical activity and work may affect and contribute to his/her low back pain and related disability. Our Thoughts:

The FABQ is an easy to administer questionnaire that can help identify fear-avoidance beliefs in patients with low back pain. This can be used as a prognostic tool in acute low back pain and to guide pain education and interventions in chronic low back pain.
