7-Day Physical Activity Recall

What is it?

The 7-day physical activity recall (PAR) questionnaire was developed by Dr. James Sallis and colleagues in the early 1980s. This questionnaire is a semi-structured interview that estimates the amount of time spent in physical activity, strength, and flexibility activities in the 7 days before the interview. The interviewer asks the individual to recall the time they have spent sleeping and doing physical activities in the past week. Our Thoughts:

This is a questionnaire that can provide some very important insight into your patient’s daily activities, including physical activity, sleep, and the amount of time they spent working in the last 7 days. As well, the semi-structured interview style of this measure allows for more interaction between the therapist and the patient, building on the therapeutic relationship.
