Bodily Map of Emotions

What is it?

This study was performed with the aim of mapping how human emotions affect bodily sensations. Figures can be found within the article depicting how specific emotions correlate with feelings of decreased or increased activity in different areas of the body.

Our thoughts:

As health care professionals who rely strongly on patients’ reports of bodily sensations, physical therapists may find the knowledge of how emotions affect somatovisceral states to be useful in interpreting patients’ self report of sensations, particularly when strongly positive or negative psychosocial influences are present.
