Uncommon Nerve Compression Syndromes at the Elbow

What is it?

This article describes compression syndromes at the elbow of the ulnar, median, and radial nerves. For each condition, it provides symptom presentation, positive findings on physical examination, diagnostic procedures, and appropriate treatment. Differential diagnoses are also listed when relevant.

Our thoughts:

Awareness of these syndromes is useful for guiding physical assessment and treatment of distal upper extremity pain/weakness/sensory impairment, as compression syndromes often present vaguely and may masquerade as other conditions such as medial or lateral epicondylitis.
